All camps are designed to provide a fun, low-stress environment for kids of all levels of experience to explore the art of theatre through games, workshops, and the creation of a final performance. Each session will have a different focus, as detailed below. Space is limited in each session.
Ovation Theatre Company offers sibling discounts and multi-session discounts. Scholarships are also available if needed. Contact us if either of these options apply to you.

Session A

June 22 - July 3, 2026

Participants will rehearse and present a production of Madagascar: A Musical Adventure Jr. Alex the lion is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends — Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo — have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape — with the help of some prodigious penguins — to explore the world.

Session B

Group 1: Devising and Improv

July 6-10, 2026

Almost full — secure your spot now!
Participants will work in small groups (with participants of similar ages) to devise their own original show. Counselors will guide participants to generate ideas and develop a plot, characters, and dialogue through improvisation. Participants will gain valuable experience in many aspects of producing a show and will present their completed production on the final day of camp. The productions may include an element of music and/or dance, depending on the participants’ interest.

Session B

Group 2: Performance

July 6-10, 2026

Participants will rehearse and present a production of Jack and the Beanstalk, a new play written by program director Ryan Kaplan. Jack is a small boy with big dreams and a big heart. When he sells his family cow for a sack of “magic beans”, his mother is furious...until they sprout a massive beanstalk in her backyard! What will Jack discover as he scales the magic beanstalk into the sky, and what adventures await him in the clouds? This faithful adaptation introduces an ensemble of exciting new characters to breathe new life into this classic fairytale. Expect all the twists, turns, and surprises of the traditional story, reimagined for a new generation.

Session C

July 20-24, 2026

Join us for a fun week of theatre and improv games that will teach campers about many aspects of acting and performance. All levels of experience are welcome.

Session D

August 3-7, 2026

This session is full.
Participants will rehearse and present a production of The Lion King Kids. Disney's The Lion King Kids brings the African savanna to life onstage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.
